ADSS cables are insulated and suitable for overhead installations. In contrast to typical cables used in overhead installations, the strength and support design of ADSS cables is inherently circular in cross-section. It is self-supporting.

ADSS cables consist of non-metallic strength members (FRP and aramid yarns) and loose tubes with optical fibers and gel filling, all covered in a protective outer sheath of PE/AT material. Design and form vary according to specific needs, but the main components are generally the same.
